OPGW Optical Cable Construction Method

Although there is no big difference between OPGW and ground wire in terms of construction methods and construction requirements, OPGW also carries the entire length of optical fiber at the same time, so it has special requirements in terms of bending, bending and installation. At present, the most commonly used construction method at home and abroad is the tension laying method.

New lines: Use preparation devices for wire and ground wire installation, such as tension traction equipment, spans, traction ropes, guide pulleys, etc., to achieve resource utilization efficiency. The traditional installation method is to use the main traction and auxiliary traction forces of the tension machine and the tractor. Under the monitoring and guidance of the control system, the OPGW is laid out smoothly and erected on each base tower at a relatively stable speed of 10 to 20 m/s. The installation technician first tightens the tension section and looks at the scale at the observation stall. After verifying the data of the sag tension meter, install the tension clamp and then the suspension clamp. After continuing the test, the installation work of OPGW has come to an end. It is worth noting that when tightening the cable, especially when the height difference angle is large, in order to protect the optical cable from colliding with the pulley when it is raised, it is necessary to tighten the cable.

Renovation of old lines: All construction tools required for installation work need to be prepared. Mainly during the design stage, it is critical to consider the load-carrying conditions of the old lines, including the specifications of the original ground wires. During construction, it is more convenient to use the original ground wire as the traction wire, and also use the main traction force and auxiliary traction force of the tension machine and traction machine to make the OPGW pay off smoothly under the monitoring and driving of the control system. Helicopter construction method: Many power lines are built in high mountains. Line construction is very complex and difficult. It requires previous construction such as clearing roads and erecting spans. The cost of construction has increased. Now with the advancement of helicopter technology stability and reliability, the power system It has also set its sights on helicopter OPGW construction. Helicopter construction does not require a lot of manpower on the line. The manpower is directly transported to each corner tower, and then the OPGW optical cable is pulled through the traction rope, which is very efficient.

Live line construction method: Some foreign cable companies currently have a construction method (referred to as live line construction method), which is a special construction method for erecting OPGW lines on the top of the tower without cutting off the original lines on the tower. This OPGW optical cable construction method can also be called a non-power-off construction method. This construction method hangs upper and lower double pulleys on the line, basically with an interval of 10 to 20 m. A ground guide rope is passed through the middle of the pulleys, and the traction rope and OPGW pass through the lower pulley. After the OPGW is installed, use the upper and lower double pulleys to guide the replacement of the original ground wire.
