What Is Anti-Rodent Fiber Optic Cable?

Anti-rodent fiber optic cable refers to a type of fiber optic cable specifically designed to prevent damage caused by rodents, such as rats and mice. These fiber optic cable often feature a protective layer made of steel or other materials resistant to rodent damage.

Applications

Anti-rodent cables are used in outdoor, direct buried, duct, overhead, pipeline installations, core networks, metropolitan area networks (MAN), access networks, lightning and anti-electric field, long-distance communication, local trunk line,CATV, etc.

Anti-rodent Cable Types

Generally, the types of anti-rodent cable are GYXTW53,GYFTA54, GYFHTY63, GYFTY73 and GYTA53.
1. GYXTW53 armored cable uses 250μm fiber positioned in a loose tube made of a high-modulus plastic. The tubes are filled with a water-resistant filling compound. A steel wire, sometimes sheathed with polyethylene (PE) for cable with high fiber count, locates in the center of the core as a metallic strength member. Tubes (and fillers) are stranded around the strength member into a compact and circular cable core. the double-coated plastic strip (PSP) is applied around the cable core. which is filled with the filling compound to protect it from water ingress. Then the cable core is covered with a thin PE inner sheath. After the PSP is longitudinally applied over the inner sheath, the cable is completed with a PE outer sheath.

GYFTA54 is a kind of outdoor communication optical cable, which consists of a non-metallic central strength member, stranded loose tubes, a laminated aluminum tape armor, a PE inner sheath, a stainless steel tape armor, a PE middle sheath and a nylon outer sheath. Single-mode fibres are housed in loose tubes that are made of highmodulus plastic and filled with tube filling compound. The tubes are stranded around the central member to form a cable core. The core is filled with cable filling compound and armored with laminated aluminum tape. Then a PE inner sheath is extruded and armored with stainless steel tape. Finally, a middle PE sheath and a nylon outer sheath is extruded.

GYFTY73 is designed with physical anti-rodent measure. Single-mode/multimode fibres are housed in loose tubes that are made of high-modulus plastic. The tubes are stranded around a central strength member to form a cable core. The core is filled with cable filling compound. Then an inner PE sheath is extruded and armored with FRP tape. Finally, a PE outer sheath is extruded.

GYFHTY63 stranded loose tube nonmetallic strength member armored and double sheathed cable  construction is that 250um fibers are positioned in a loose tube which is made of high modulus plastic and filled with a water-resistant filling compound; A fiber reinforced plastic (FRP), sometimes sheathed with polyethylene (PE) for cable with high fiber count, locates in the center of core as a non-metallic strength member; Tubes are stranded around the strength member into a compact and circular cable core; Water blocking yarn and water blocking tape protect cable core from water ingress and covered with a polyethylene (PE) inner sheath; After fiber glass fiber yarns are longitudinally applied over the inner sheath, the cable is completed with a PE outer sheath.

GYTA53 stranded loose tube double armored and double sheathed cable construction is that 250um fibers are positioned in a loose tube which is made of high modulus plastic and filled with a water-resistant filling compound; A steel wire, sometimes sheathed with polyethylene (PE) for cable with high fiber count, locates in the center of core as a metallic strength member; Tubes are stranded around the strength member into a compact and circular cable core; The APL (Aluminum Tape) is longitudinally applied over the cable core which is filled with the filling compound to protect it from water ingress and then the cable core is covered with a polyethylene (PE) inner sheath; After the PSP (Steel Tape) is longitudinally applied over the inner sheath, the cable is completed with a polyethylene (PE) outer sheath.
