Rodent-proof Fiber Optic Cable

Rodent-proof optical cable is suitable for places where rats are prone to occur. Optical cables are made of special materials and have special structures. Its special material prevents communication interruptions due to damage to the optical fibers in the cable. For optical cables, the usual anti-rodent methods are mainly divided into two methods: physical anti-rat and chemical anti-rat.

 
Physical rodent protection is to install hard metal and non-metal armor layers or glass fiber layer armor in the optical cable, so that the rat teeth are difficult to bite through and the mouth is strongly stimulated by the glass fiber, so as to protect the optical cable in the armor layer . At present, there are mainly four kinds of physical rodent-proof methods in China: steel wire armored rodent-proof, steel tape armored rodent-proof, glass fiber armored rodent-proof and nylon sheath. Depending on the installation environment, the structure of the rodent-proof optical cable will also be different. For example, if the optical cable is laid in a pipe, steel belts and nylon sheaths are usually used to prevent rodents; if the optical cable is laid overhead, glass yarn or FRP armor is usually used. And the structure is mostly non-metallic. Currently commonly used models are GYTA53, GYFTA53, GYTA33, GYFTY63, GYFTA54 and other models.
 
Chemical rodent prevention is to add rodent repellant to the sheath layer of the optical cable to achieve the purpose of rodent protection. Usually, there are mainly two additives, synthetic high-alcohol and synthetic capsicum. These two chemical rodent prevention methods are harmful to human body and environment. Harmful and rodent-proof reliability is not high and other disadvantages.
 
  Generally speaking, physical rodent protection is still the best choice for rodent protection at present, but for some electric field environments, rodent-proof optical cables with non-metallic structures must be used. With the widespread use of optical cable products and the continuous development of optical cable technology, summarizing and improving from experience, there will be more and more application options for rat-proof optical cables.
